eBay meets Patreon web app. The idea is that traditional celebrities auction off their time (caddying for Tiger Woods for golf charity, a traditional example), and that this new class of mini-celebrities--creators, streamers, and influencers--can do the same, mostly virtually. The site is built and a functional MVP.
I'm somewhat at a loss of what to do at the moment, as I've had no conversions but seemingly a reasonable level of interest. I've started to reach out to creators in the last 3 weeks, and here are some of the results/noteworthy comments I've gleaned.
I'm highly considering attending Vidcon because many agent and creators themselves will be there, and discussing it with them is more pleasant to them than my spam, I assume. In the end, I think I have not budgeted as much for marketing as I should have, as I have only spent $200.
So your working on getting the supply side of your marketplace. Do you have the demand side?
I really haven't. Partly because I assume (😬) that if a creator provides an auction, they'll broadcast it to their fans. The interest in bidding I believe will be pretty segmented according to the specific creator, little crossover in other words.
You and every other business relying on creators and influencers assume broadcasting to their followers. Can you make it valuable to them beyond their own followers?
How are you targeting your creators? Are they doing this kind of thing already and you're finding them, and telling them they can use your site?
Your first point is a good one. I suppose my only value proposition right now is helping them make more money off their existing following.
I've gathered a list of Patreon creators (from Graphtreon) with reasonably large followings and then messaged them through it. Few of them have actually provided auctions, but many provide more "exclusive" reward tiers.

The things you describe are possible. To give you some perspective, this site provides "opportunities" for time with traditional celebrities on behalf of charity: https://www.charitybuzz.com/

You have a fair point. I suppose the Patreon flavoring only adds the creator aspect...I should find a more on point description.
What does a better Patreon do better? Have you had a particular problem with patreon?

I'm not following. not trying to be hard, just would like a link or something. Just tried googling news in the past month and found some press releases only. Seems the "complaints" about Patreon are actually people guessing what they might do and saying it's a big mistake. (I could be wrong). they did make a "big" mistake before and fixed it fairly quickly with their payment terms.
From end of January: Patreon announced some benchmarks:

It is true. I think there are alternatives already, unsure if they're better though...
