#1 on Product hunt in my first launch. AMA

Hi Indiehackers,

Like a lot of you here, I keep on creating a lot of side projects, but rarely put it out in front of the public.

Last week, I overcame my fears and made a launch on Product Hunt. It ended up being #1 for the day

As this was my first launch ever, I do not think I am an expert. But I would like to help out with any questions you might have. Or with preparing for your own launches

Ask me anything

Note that:

  • This is my first ever AMA (so please be kind)

  • I have a lot of learnings (and stats) that I have compiled in this thread

    Hi Rajat!

Can you share something about your community outreach efforts prior and post the launch?

      Hi,

Prior to the launch, a few people knew that this was coming. Most of these people were providing me feedback on the product. These included a couple of close friends and some people who fit my target audience (created and launched info products and ebooks).

A day before the launch, I sent the launch draft with Arvid Kahl and Jim Raptis. I know them well and appreciate the launches that they have done.
They have helped me with a lot of my queries earlier as well.
Essentially reach out to your acquaintances that have launched on PH before to get feedback on the launch draft.

I did not reach out to anyone to hunt my product. I wanted to do it myself. The whole point was to experiment and learn for my other, bigger projects.

Post launch, I posted on Twitter:
      https://twitter.com/therajatkapoor/status/1409047230971924482?s=20

Then linked the same thread to Hackernews and Indiehackers

I also notified about this on 2-3 slack and discord communities <- This only helps if you are an active member of the community.

I ensured that I was replying to each and everyone on PH and twitter

      And that is about it.

        Thanks, Rajat, appreciate it :)
