BitsForDigits officially launched on Product Hunt back on December 14, 2021.
It became #2 product of the day and was nominated as a finalist in the fintech of the year category side-by-side with AngelList and Carta in the top 4.

7 DAY PREP
Start by scheduling your launch, building your launch page and all of that. Plenty of other resources with advice on how to do this but Tuesday-Thursday are usually most competitive.
We had very few Twitter followers (>1k combined) so in the week leading up to the launch we started supporting all other launches on Product Hunt.
Remember 50+ products launch daily on PH so through our interactions there we managed to build relations with hundreds of makers (as well as micro- and macro-influencing hunters)!
It was through Twitter that we got connected with our hunter, who as a founder had sold their software business previously and thus was a huge fan of our idea to help more get liquid.
Hunters used to matter more than they currently do. Their powers have weakened on the platform so for most cases it makes sense to hunt one’s own product as the maker.
The exception is when you have a product where a strong ambassador effectively can provide a testimonial to their followers and your desired users that what you built rocks!
Getting friends and family to create accounts on PH doesn’t help. In fact it can have the opposite effect so don’t even bother. Their systems detect new accounts and remove the upvotes you get, sometimes with penalties.
LAUNCH DAY
Launch day started when we at 9am CET (12am PST) went live on Product Hunt. Being based in Europe is nice as your sleep rhythm is not totally messed up initially by the launch.
The first 30 minutes are important to get to the top of the page for organic traffic. To get there we had prepared a newsletter to our beta users, a linkedin post and a tweet. That’s it.
Throughout the day we were responding to messaging from many supporters who had also referred us to people in their network who were monthly-active users on Product Hunt.
The whole thing grew organically from the community of makers as our product was in essence built to aid makers, founders and business owners operating in the digital economy.
That’s the number one criteria for a successful launch on PH: offer something helpful to the core audience on the platform and it will snowball to a nice launch trajectory.
PROVING IT WORKS
The best way to test if something works is by repeating the experiment following your own advice and recipe. So that’s what we’re doing today with the relaunch of BitsForDigits 2.0.
