I created SpreadTheWorld 2 months ago to help makers get their first users. That was my first info-product and my first launch as a solo-entrepreneur!
I'm now super excited to announce I just get my 100th paying customer today!
That's such a nice feeling to have constant feedback from IndieHackers or startup founders saying that the product I built actually help them!
Here is what I learned for the last 2 months:
- For info product building an audience is really super important. Almost a third of my sales came from Twitter!
- There is a lot of communities out there that you can leverage to get your customers. I got 5000 visits on my landing page since the launch, most of the traffic came from here, Reddit or Slack/Discord channels. I didn't tackle big acquisition channels yet!
- SEO and ads are nice in the long term, but when you start they're way less powerful than communities!
- Fight the "shipping fear" is super hard. That's basically why I didn't ship to PH or big subreddits yet. I always feel like "i'm not ready". That's BS, I know I should ship it!
- Test, test, experiment and never stop learning! I changed a LOT of things since the launch: copywriting, pricing, UI etc… Testing is the only way to know if what you're doing is working
- Pricing is super hard. Just guess and see what happens. If you still have sales, raise it until your sales drop by 50%.
- Talk with people, a lot. Talk with your customers to know how to improve the product. Talk with other makers about strategy, tools. As a solo entrepreneur that's super important to not stay in a bubble!
- Social proof is crucial, get testimonials as soon as you can. Your customers are the best to talk to others!
Next steps:
- Launch on Product Hunt!
- Create an affiliation program? Does it make sense?
- Build a more complete offer, I want to create something more than just the lifetime access.
I get some regular demands of a "How to" create & ship an info product, if it's something that you can be interested in drop a comment below!
How have you used your data to grow this project? 1/3 comes from Twitter, then what else channel helps you? Thanks for sharing, and the project looks great, I am hooked tbh, will want to try it once I have my project launched!(soon)
Yes I did!
My biggest sources of traffic (except twitter) are IndieHackers, Reddit (sideprojects, nocode, marketing) and Hackernews.
I haven't submitted Spreadtheworld yet, that's clearly something I'm gonna do in early 2021
Nice! Yes ha so for sharing! Keep in touch! 2021 will be the launching and marketing year!
I Wish you the best for your next step.
What advice can you give me to get more from Twitter?
It's make senses. Thank you. I took a look at your product, and it seems promising, I'll probably try it in the next few days. Thanks
Awesome! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions/feedback
