18$ MRR -> 70$ MRR

In July, we got our first 2 paid customers of Hyvor Blogs right after 2 years we have built it. Today, we are at $70 MRR. Hyvor Blogs is slowly starting to take off in a highly competitive market.
It's a 70$ MRR with zero churns.

Most of our users love using Hyvor Blogs. Here is what one of our customers say. Click here. It's a great pleasure to see our customers loving the product.

Why slow growth?

Stopped using ads

We spent lots on ads past months to market our product. It was a huge mistake according to my perspective. Let me tell you why.

Each and every time we put up ads, we got lots of traffic and users who came to try our product using the trial period but the conversion rate was really low.

I thought the cause was bad ad targeting. Therefore I did lot of reading about ads targeting and retried several times. The only thing that happened was we lost lost of our money and that's it. Therefore we add a full-stop for ads.

Throughout this whole time, I realised that when it comes to marketing - especially digital marketing in SaaS businesses- if we do not understand the depth and the width of the market that we are going to focus on, we'll end up in a mess. Like I personally feel that I did not realised how deep and wide the marketing for Hyvor Blogs was. The market for Hyvor Blogs is deep and wide.

Focusing more on our product

We focus more on improving our product adding new features, and doing fixes, etc. We want to make Hyvor Blogs the best choice that a blogger asks for. So we recently we released several cool features for our users. Here is what we have released recently.

  • πŸ” SEO Analysis
  • πŸ”— Link Analysis
  • πŸ€– GPT Integration
  • πŸ–ŒοΈ Google Fonts, Locally
  • πŸ“ Tables Support
  • πŸŒ„ Improved Image Selector

Now I'm going to briefly explain you what each of those features does:

  • πŸ” SEO Analysis: We have built a SEO analyzer in the post editor to help you with on-page SEO. It will help you identify common issues and better optimize your blog posts for search engines.

You can see the overall SEO score in the Posts list to find posts to improve. For the score and suggestions, instead of reinventing the wheel, we closely followed the popular battle-tested WordPress SEO plugin RankMath. It means that you get a world-class SEO plugin with Hyvor Blogs, without actually having to install any plugins!

  • πŸ”— Link Analysis: Link analysis tool helps you identify broken links easily. It comes with 2 separate features.

  1. Link Analysis in the Post Editor: The first feature is the link analyzer in the post editor. It gives real-time feedback for you as you write your post. This will help you publish your blog post without any broken links. This checks for internal, external, and even anchor links in your post. Link Analysis in the Post Editor

  2. Automated full-blog link analysis - Links break over time. Our bi-weekly (run every 14 days) full-blog analysis checks for all links in your posts and provides you with a report in Console > Tools > Link Analysis.
    Link Anlysis Report

You can also view all links and their current status in your posts in a single place. And, you will get an email report once the full-blog analysis is done:

  • πŸ€– GPT Integration: Hyvor Blogs to allow you to easily generate content and add it to the editor. It comes with a few pre-built commonly used prompts. And, you can easily use the generated content in your Editor. Here is a demo of how it works:

  • πŸ–ŒοΈ Google Fonts, Locally: Until now, changing theme fonts has been a nightmare where you have to deal with multiple CSS files, @font-face rules, uploading assets, etc. Or, you had to use a third-party service like Google Fonts, which comes with a privacy liability. Now all those issues are fixed with our new theme fonts feature. It combines the simplicity of Google Fonts and the privacy of locally hosting the fonts. All the fonts (CSS and font files) are served directly from your domain - no requests are sent to Google or any other third party.

  • πŸ“ Tables Support: Hyvor Blogs' post editor now supports adding tables. Plus, you can customize the tables as you prefer.

  • πŸŒ„ Improved Image Selector: The improved image selector allows,

  • ⬆️ uploading (browse, drag & drop, paste)

  • πŸ–ΌοΈ selecting from your blog media

  • πŸ“· choosing from Unsplash

I think you have got a general idea on what we have done recently. You can see our main announcement about new features here.

Content Marketing Only

I was focusing more on highly ranking keywords with a big search volume that are hard to rank when it comes to content marketing in our blog. Writing articles for keywords that are difficult to rank is a waste of time. There are much more useful keywords that are easy to rank.

I use Ahref SEO tool to search keywords and check our ups and downs in content marketing. It's a great tool with all the essential features I needed.

Therefore we strictly sticked only to content marketing focusing on easy to rank keywords.

We often update our articles and try to gain more SERP. The main policy I follow in content marketing is "Quality over Quantity": it is better write one perfect informative and interesting article rather than writing 100 bad articles right?

I think it is working for us and will work as we wish. I'll surely update on how this new strategy is doing.

That's it up to now.

Let me know if you guys have any questions, I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, suggestions.
