It's been a good month so far of building. I had some things come up and haven't been as committed, but have gotten back into it this week.
The main progress is I was able to build a prototype and run it by a bunch of people (family, friends, colleagues at work, etc.) and got some really good feedback. The best feedback was that the product is cool but needs to be built more with realtors in mind than home buyers. Tools are cool, but if a home buyer can just find similar things on the internet it isn't of much use to realtors.
So that got my gears turning....how to make this valuable to Realtors? I decided to enter in my name into as many Realtor lead gen platforms as possible and found a pain point (and a good Realtor lol, I am looking to buy a house this year) -- Realtors struggle standing out over competitors with online leads.
Every lead gen form is essentially the same -- the form sells your lead to 3 Realtors ($30 / lead) and they all call you as fast as they can and send you an intro text. Personal outreach is nice, but three people calling me at the same time and sending texts is overwhelming. I decided to text back to all of them and see who I would pick and why I would pick them.
I ended up going with an awesome Realtor named Ashley. The reason I went with her? She sent over a cool buyers packet PDF with a bunch of information on the process, and the others just directed me to a website. So here comes the idea...
I'm going to build the best deliverable for Realtors to send to online leads. I'm working with a few people to figure out exactly what that is, but the high level is building landing pages that are custom for each lead and whose sole purpose is to provide information and prove a Realtors value. Realtors' websites are all optimized to generate leads, so why are they sending their current leads to that same website? The big CTA is "Request more info"....but leads have already done that. You have their info, so you should send them something else. Something new. Something better. And it will help you stand out above the other Realtors and win more of those leads.
Anyway, that's the update. I'll hopefully have an MVP I can start testing with Ashley in the next month or so. But it feels good to have identified a problem, now I just need to solve it.
