Hello my fellow Indiehackers - Craig Barber here, Senior Product Designer who has made over $2m designing websites for big brand and startups.
Lately I've been doing a deep dive into conversion rate optimisation for landing pages and I thought I'd share some of my best findings with you today.
So! If you’re a SaaS founder trying to get more users without more traffic, here are 20 no-BS CRO hacks you can implement today.
No fluff. No guesswork. Just quick wins that work 💸
Your hero should answer:
✅ What is it?
✅ Who’s it for?
✅ What do I do next?
Confused visitors don’t click.
Forget “Start Free Trial.”
Use value-focused CTAs like:
✅ “Generate My Report”
✅ “Get My Free Campaign”
✅ “Try the AI Assistant”
Show off:
✔️ Customer logos
✔️ 5-star reviews
✔️ Short testimonials
Before users scroll — build trust fast.
Add quick trust-boosters:
✅ No credit card
✅ Cancel anytime
✅ Instant setup
Make clicking a no-brainer.
Only ask for what you need.
Start with an email. That’s it.
More fields = more friction.
Try this:
⏰ “Only 10 spots left”
🎁 “Free bonus ends Friday”
📆 “Onboarding closes May 30”
Urgency drives action.
Over 60% of SaaS traffic is mobile.
✅ Big buttons
✅ Clear text
✅ Sticky CTA
Test on your own phone. You’ll be surprised.
Your product isn’t a riddle.
Say what it does. Why it helps.
Then tell users how to start.
Simple always wins.
Grab a screenshot or GIF of your best feature in action.
Let visitors see the value.
Show them the process in 3 steps:
Visual walkthroughs reduce hesitation.
Help visitors self-qualify:
✅ Solo founders
✅ Startup teams
✅ B2B marketers
If they see themselves, they’re more likely to convert.
Compare your product to the status quo (like spreadsheets or Zapier):
✔️ Faster
✔️ Cheaper
✔️ Less manual work
Position yourself as the obvious upgrade.
People are indecisive.
Help them choose by adding:
⭐ “Most Popular” to your middle pricing tier.
Yes — it actually works.
CTA in the hero? Good.
Now add it:
– After each section
– In the nav
– At the bottom
Give users lots of chances to act.
Catch users before they leave with:
✅ Bonus content
✅ Discount
✅ Quick question
Used well, these can boost conversions without being annoying.
If a user has a doubt, they’ll bounce.
Use an FAQ to proactively answer:
– “Is this secure?”
– “How much time does it take?”
– “Can I cancel anytime?”
Kill objections before they kill your conversions.
Don’t just say: “CRM integration”
Say: “Sync your contacts automatically so you never lose a lead again.”
People buy results, not tools.
Different users need different outcomes.
Create mini sections like:
– “For Content Marketers”
– “For Founders”
– “For Agencies”
Tailored messaging = higher conversions.
Your CTA should pop visually.
Test:
– High-contrast color
– Bigger size
– More whitespace around it
Don’t let it blend in with the page.
Once someone clicks your CTA, remove:
❌ Navigation
❌ Footer
❌ Exit links
Tunnel vision = higher conversion.
