Mark Jivko, a Tenerife-based engineer with 17 years of software experience, recently launched Socket2. The browser-based tool allows users to share entire folders instantly via a unique link. Files never leave the local device. They travel securely through an open WebSocket connection. Closing the tab immediately destroys the temporary server.

Mark launched Socket2 simultaneously on Hacker News and Product Hunt. He posted a straightforward "Show HN" thread. It gained a modest 14 upvotes. To maximize this attention, he added a small Product Hunt banner to his homepage. This banner gently guided incoming visitors to support the launch.

The single Hacker News post yielded 218 visitors and 10 signups within 14 hours. This zero-cost strategy proved that viral status is unnecessary to attract quality traffic. By linking his promotional channels, Mark capitalized on "splash damage" to efficiently fuel his Product Hunt campaign.
