INTRO
Podcasting is BOOMING… You know this, but let me just back it up with one… or four stats;
If you haven’t jumped on your own podcast yet then you will only regret it, especially after learning about micro voice content…
1. Listener profiles
As a small business, brand, or enterprise grow they create both initial and ideal customer profiles. Who that person is, what they do daily, what beliefs they hold, are they left or right, do they have a dog… literally anything and everything you can think of.
Podcasters will soon be operating along this same wavelength. Creating in-depth listener identities for every series they create. This will become necessary as the amount of podcasts increase, and thus competition is higher than ever before.
Niching down further and further into specific identities will be necessary to maintain a voice within the podcasting space.
2. Podcast SEO will (finally) lift-off
You will still have to stick to the bread and butter SEO methods. But efforts such as transcribing podcasts (and youtube videos) into blog posts will become greater and greater as SEO becomes more of a dominant marketing factor.
In the future podcasting will have it’s very own search engine built into Google. Podcasters will be able to take advantage of genuine evergreen traffic from Google searches. The same way you do currently with Youtube and blog content.
As Google’s speech to text and other AI/ML components continue to improve and become 100% accurate, singular words spoken within a podcast will be able to be pinpointed and searched for. That’s kinda scary, but freaking awesome in my opinion. But I may be a little bias as it is us (https://getspread.io/) who will be making that a reality for your audience…
3. Podcasting will be transformed into MICRO content.
(The announcement of Twitter voice was actually the reason I decided to research and actually create this whole post.)
Anyways…
The same way that long-form video content once dominated via Youtube, and eventually trickled down into short-form videos we’re now experiencing on IG, FB, and TikTok. The exact same will happen with voice.
Voice only apps are becoming more and more prevalent. Some prime examples being:
Hear-me-out — social media voice-only app
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hearmeout-voice-social-network/id694588796
Listen — voice-only messaging/social media app
http://www.llisten.me/
Twitter Voice — Twitters latest feature release
https://blog.twitter.com/en_us/topics/product/2020/your-tweet-your-voice.html
I truly believe that Podcasting will become much more ingrained within social media. We already saw this start to happen with https://wavve.co/ creating audiograms from podcast episodes.
However, this will continue onto Twitter voice, and eventually every other app too.

Thanks for checking us out and signing up - most appreciated :)
I feel like we are going to see more and more of the super popular podcasts approached by companies with deals to lock into exclusive deals and behind a paywall. Which personally, I'm not a fan of but I can certainly see the attraction of the big upfront payout to creators.
On the downside, it's going to be a hard sell to get users to pay for the content until it is accepted as pay-per-listen just like pay-per-view networks e.g. Discovery+ etc.
If any of you guys have any other predictions or observations then I would love to hear them! Please comment on any personal experiences too! :)
