Three weeks ago I started validating an idea before writing a single line of code.
The idea: web agencies manually write alt text for client website images — or skip it entirely. With ADA lawsuits crossing 5,000 in 2025, that's becoming a real liability problem.
Here's what validation has actually taught me so far:
The positioning matters more than the product. "Generate alt text faster" gets compared to $5 utilities. "Reduce compliance risk across client sites" gets evaluated completely differently. Same product, completely different buying conversation.
The price signals trust.
$9/month got feedback that it was too low to be credible for B2B compliance work. Moved to $29 starter, $79 agency, $199 white label.
The buyer and the pain-feeler are different people.
The client creates the compliance pressure. The agency owner feels the operational pain. Selling to the agency owner, not the client.
Plugin-first beats dashboard-first. Agencies won't adopt a new standalone tool for a problem they don't yet see as dashboard-worthy. The right wedge is a WordPress plugin embedded in their existing delivery workflow.
What I still don't know:
Is the fear real enough to trigger a purchase before an agency gets their first demand letter? Or does something have to scare them first?
If you're building in public or have sold to agencies before — what would you do differently at this stage?
This is a sharp validation read. The biggest signal is that the same product changes category depending on the frame. “Generate alt text faster” sounds like a cheap utility. “Reduce compliance risk across client sites” sounds like agency infrastructure and risk protection.
I’d probably keep pushing that second frame. The WordPress plugin wedge also makes sense because agencies won’t adopt a new dashboard until the pain is obvious, but they will adopt something that quietly fits into delivery and reduces liability across client work.
One thing I’d watch early is the brand layer. If this becomes a compliance-risk product for agencies, the name should not feel like an alt-text generator. A cleaner SaaS brand like Beryxa .com could carry the broader risk/compliance layer better if the product expands beyond image accessibility into agency site compliance.
