I've been following PreQuilt for a while, and I love what you have been building! My wife is super into quilts, and we've thought about doing similar things in the past, but never had enough time to fully execute on anything substantial.
I'm not really an expert in pricing, or quilting, but I figured I'd chime in with my two cents.

Quilting is a weird market.
Since it is primarily hobbyists, things need to be cheap to appeal to the broader community. Most of the quilters I've talked with are totally ok with spending big money on materials or physical equipment -- but they are usually very timid when investing in tools that make their lives easier.
As a hobbyist in the quilting market, I'm not sure what people will actually pay for. I feel like you could probably get some success by charging $5/month (1 coffee!) or $50/year.

In my experience in searching around for quilting software, there isn't much in terms of good software. But the community seems to have really latched onto electricquilt.com
I think if you were able to have feature parity with their product, and do subtle (read: thoughtful) advertisements by replying to folks in the various quilting communities, you might have success.

When we first started this project I wasn't expecting it to be so much work. It's become a full time job almost. Its kind of taken a life of it's own at this point.
I think people need to be convinced of the value of how technology can help and this is where we need to be creative. Given that technology is quite new to many people in the community they are probably reluctant to spend money and like most of us we've come expect these services to be free. There's a lot of work we need to do to market so that people see the value in spending a couple of bucks a month. Maybe if we continue to get influencers to use PreQuilt it might convince others.
What's great about the quilting market is that it's so big. As you mentioned, according to SuzyQuilts, she has 50k followers. If we can just capture 1000 subscribers at 5/month I'd consider the project a success. We've done a lot work on the PreQuilt and we are now starting to focus on marketing and building a community.
