First-timer here -- need to get a handle on how things work.

Detailed info from me here - I see all sorts of people partnering up or looking for a partner, but does this normally go with equity from people who have time on their hands, or does this normally go with some sort of financial transactions, or anything in between? I sort of expected many established development teams market themselves as partners and then to promptly bill their partner fully for the time spent.

    Anyone savvy, please clarify.

      It depends.

On IH people are often looking for people to share the load and equity, but it's not always the case. Sharing equity is a big decision to make, I always recommend that people work together for a bit first without longterm commitment to see if they can make the relationship work.

Sometimes indie hackers just need temporary help too and will look for help on a transactional basis.

So it is not at all preposterous to find someone here to share the load freely for equity - on paper, in terms of a solid contract?

It's not, doesn't mean it is easy to find the right person. Going into business with someone is akin to getting married.

I guess we're all looking for those angels in disguise, in marriage as well as in business.
