Antsy to get into somethin but....
Hi everyone, new here my first post, find out about indie hackers from HN and been reading and lurking for a while and finally decided to make a post.
So I'm somewhat technical but not a developer, the most accurate description would probably be the standard tech enthusiast, great general IT knowledge but nothing specialised.
I've spent the past 5 years in a small business that does mostly one off manufacturing and it really burned me out and bolstered my belief that going the digital route is really the way to go.
In that business I had to deal with product quality, delivery deadlines, breakages during delivery, problems with suppliers, problems with employees, unrealistic expectations from buyers....the list goes on and on and I really got sick of it.
I've been thinking of getting started in doing something online for a really long time and actually did some info products a few years ago and it actually worked but I wasn't really proud of the stuff I was doing as it was somewhat spammy so I stopped, but I was making some money with it.
Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do considering that I'm not a developer like most of you so building a SaaS isn't really practical at this point for me.
One option would of course be to learn how to code but I'm really antsy to get started NOW instead of spending more time reading and thinking.
Any help would be deeply appreciated!

What about putting a technical spin on manufacturing? That's a space I'm really interested in. I'm looking to launch some products over the next year, all tangible objects, just made sexy by a good web presence and the systems that would standard on any SaaS offering out there. Your previous experience is a very good thing to have. A lot of entrepreneurship is about spotting inefficiencies and solving them. It sounds like you already have some gripes about your current industry, so there may be opportunities there.
That being said, if you want to build software but don't know how to code, you're basically stuck with three options:
I was in your shoes a couple years ago. I was selling an educational info product (not spammy though) and started teaching myself to code on nights and weekends. Learning to code wasn't all about reading and thinking – it was about doing and building. These days, I'm building my own SaaS products!
If you do choose the coding route, start small and work your way up. You'd be surprised at what you can have in a few months.

When I joined here recently, I have found that is very supportive community that provide valuable feedback: some technical and some motivational.
I am come from technical background (I mean software development), so my advice would be start visualize idea. What is your idea ? What are you trying to solve ? How you going to monetize it or it going to be non profit ? And on and on ..
When you have some concrete idea/direction/concept you can start to look for peaces required for development. You can walk alone (from development perspective) or join to someone who is technical as a co-founder (see #looking-for-cofounder hashtag).
If alone is you way, I would suggest couple relatively short development video courses for web development and continue from there (you can use https://stackoverflow.com/ to ask question or look for answers from similar questions.
Focus on your goal.
