A Beginning

Starting a journey.

I have been a developer for the past 13 years. In that time I’ve learned extensively from authors in my direct line of work and those tangential. All the while I’ve felt I have nothing to add which hasn’t been said before. Honestly I still feel this way. But building web products has become a core part of what excites me in this life.

Even though I have a demanding day job which is centered in building software I still often seek out side projects. There are itches which must be scratched.

Currently feeling this way and so an atypical interaction for me. Writing. Publicly.

I’ve decided to do this for a few reasons.

1. An effort to create a personal sense of accountability. Something I struggle with from a few different angles.

2. Providing something back to the community. While I hold no such thought my murmurings are of any value. Who knows. Maybe I can conjure a sentence that has a profound impact on someone else. Like so often other randoms on the internet have done for me.

3. I love stories. I wish I was a better story teller. It is a muscle, it must be done continuously to gain strength. So I lift a weight. Who knows maybe it will end as many times my gym life does, after a month it fades away.

Either way I will use this space and time to write to myself for myself. Maybe that’ll evolve into engaging with a community I gain so much from. Maybe it won’t. One way or another I know I’ll keep building things.
