A better search experience for nintendo switch games
Inspired by this post https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/e9nadk/why_do_i_have_to_swim_through_an_ocean_of_garbage/ I was looking at making a site to search switch games and pulls in third party reviews with more fine grained sorting/filtering content.
Seems like it could be expanded to pull in every console/pc game for view also, but want to just start with this one problem domain.
I'm not sure how I would go about turning this into a business yet, but I know it's a problem people are obviously having that I feel is very solvable.
That's an interesting idea. I wonder if some of these publishers have affiliate programs? That could be one potential source of revenue.
I was trying to look into that and it seems pretty rare for a video game company to have an affiliate program, but big box stores/amazon do have them. I could definitely put in links for those stores to buy physical editions, and just a different link that's non affiliate for the respective eshop.
Hmm, what about big box retailers who sell digital versions of games? ie. I bought Super Smash Bros in store from Target, but they sold me a digital copy basically via a gift card / coupon. I wonder if they sell those online?
Nintendo has never had a strong Web team. I always thought they are leaving a lot of money on the table by not having an eShop experience on par with something like Steam.
Not sure why they avoid basic things like ratings and reviews for games, and why they treat every 99¢ port of a mobile game or shovelware game like a AAA title in the eShop.
