After 25 years working in B2B marketing, including as a CMO and for some of the world's most respected and forward-thinking brands, there was an ever-present niggle. I had never found an easy way to explain to someone what my marketing plan was.
I created plans in excel – able to quickly add and remove layers of activity and sum up how it contributed to the business. I stored the activity in a combination of CRM, marketing automation and project management tools, and when I needed to share it I turned back to Microsoft and spent hours creating pretty charts to share with stakeholders.
It was a mess. AI meant I became more efficient at doing the reporting, but it didn't solve the root cause. I needed a way to capture my plans like excel. Model and track real-time results like my CRM. And share it with colleagues in visually interesting and easy to understand ways.
I asked my network - they too struggled with the same issues but none had found the killer app. Marketing Resource Management (MRM) was a possible option, but it was expensive and focused too much on asset management. I even commissioned a survey of marketing leaders to see if I really was alone in my thinking. I wasn't.
Then I found low-code/no-code visual programming tools that gave me the platform to build what I needed.
Drawing on my early career experience of configuring HR & Payroll applications as a consultant (and decades working for tech companies), it felt natural to ‘program’ a B2B planning app of my own.
After using it in my fractional CMO and consulting work, I figured others might benefit too. So here it is. Available for you to use. A simple B2B Marketing planning tool at low cost with powerful benefits.
Thanks Rob, really appreciate the comment - you've described the exact issue many marketers face!
This is actually a sick idea! Does it sync with HubSpot or Salesforce, and can I share a simple plan link with execs without a login?
It does, Dennis. It can sync with both HubSpot and Salesforce to extract real-time pipeline and revenue data and assign against the plan. Haven't thought about exec 'view only' access (licensing isn't really per user) but probably possible. I'll have a look . Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for your answer! Great that you already sync with HubSpot and Salesforce, a quick win would be a shareable read only link for execs with optional password, expiry, and simple field controls so they can view plan, spend, pipeline, and ROI without an account.
btw we could partner up. Me and my team are building HustleAdvisor, a social network where entrepreneurs share practical step by step lessons. If you join the waitlist and later post a short write up about building B2B Planr, we will boost it in the main feed so more people see it :)
You get: more users
We get: an experienced entrepreneur on board
