A new angle for car buying research
Growing organic traffic is hard, especially in the automotive industry. As such we've had to develop some new approaches to gain an edge over some others in the space.
One way we're approaching it is with a new way to search for car dealerships in your area and determine whether it's worth making a visit. For instance, our Mac Haik Chevrolet page features analytics on their inventory and extracts helpful pieces of data that could help someone looking for a chevy.
Some might already know exactly what vehicle they want, but if you don't then it's hard to use the tools available today. Dealerships are still helpful for those wanting to look around a bit. The tough part is finding which of the hundreds of stores around you have generally the vehicles you're interested in.
With our finder, you'll be able to search for dealers that specialize in low mileage, near-new, sedans, pickups, suvs, etc versus having to choose specifically by model. We think this is a better starting point for those not 100% confident in their search process!
Interesting. I absolutely hate dealerships, even more than the dentist ! Why ? because I know I cannot trust them.
I cannot wait for the Augmented Reality (AR) app, that allows me to hop in the car seat, and receive an experience. Look at the car from within.. see what is feels like.
I do this 'seat-hop' for my short-listed cars. Typically 3 cars are short listed. This is the only reason I go to dealers.
haha fair enough - i think that's something many sympathize with. The AR angle is quite interesting and would be cool to see more of that out there.
I definitely agree that the in-person experience is going to change going forward given the massive success of direct-sale models like Tesla. Most people still want to at least see and feel a car first so hopefully we can meet somewhere in the middle!
agreed. I think demo cars in direct-sale models will come first. Like rent me for 2hrs. Sure it will get some abuse, but still an real experience. Or search for car share collective with your 3 short listed car options.
Fm, the trend I am hoping gets boosted is care sharing. Own car as a collective. Or own it outright and offer it up for car share in your community.
It will be truelly a win, if I never see a car dealership again. Gone are the wasted space they take up (large lots). Gone are the high inventory (bloating the cost of the car). Gone are the salesman (ideally found a much more meaningful work) -- they are often great lateral thinkers gone down the wrong track.
