a pretty link to your YouTube channel

Hello, fellow hackers.

I want to tell you how I am trying to validate one product idea without spending a fortune or lots of time building the actual thing.

Last week I thought to myself that I may create some youtube videos in my channel.

Then I thought, OK, maybe I can put my channel URL to my Twitter bio and such.

However if you are just starting to put videos to youtube you cannot get a pretty link to your channel.

Youtube gave me this monstrosity:

It. Was. Awful.

Then I thought maybe I can create a short link to my channel, a self explanatory one.

Aaand..

ytub.link was available and cheap (less than 5 usd per year)

It was a no brainer, I bought the domain.

Today, using some no-code tools I set up a redirection service behind ytub.link/safa in about 10 mins.

Now it redirects to my channel.

And, I was wondering if some other people would be interested in buying a short link from my domain. To validate this, I created a form and put it to ytub.link and now with the help of it a person can

A. create a short link request paying 1 euro via PayPal, and I go manually create a short link for their channel

B. they answer the survey about why they don't want to pay.

So in less than an hour I set up a system (using free tools) where I can validate my idea and possibly get my first paying customers.

I thought it's cool how you don't need to spend a fortune or lots from your precious time to validate an idea you have.

Just by getting the domain and setting up some form.
