hello,
i am a developer, i did meet a partner he told me about his idea of building an app on Shopify and if i can do it.
so i said yes and we did make a partnership like 25% for me and 75% for him.
i will develop the app and him marketing it and host it.
do you think it a fair share?
thank you, hackers!
Every situation is different, but here is how I would approach it:
Equity is based on who contributes what; not on who found it first.
Idea: 10-20%. Whomever came up with the idea should get some extra ownership, but the starting point is not 50%.
Marketing / Sales: 40%
Tech / Product Development: 40%
Cash 10-25%: cash is worth a lot to a startup and many times some amount of cash is needed.
Another big question is whether everybody is working full-time. If not, some adjustments should be made.
Hope that’s a good starting point to think about whether this is a fair deal or not.
thank you, Raymond this is very informative
