I have just released the premium version of WhereIsThisPhoto.com and would love some feedback/thoughts on the pricing model. Pricing is based on credit packages which are a one off payment. These are the packages:
$7 = 20 premium prediction credits
$10 = 40 premium prediction credits
$15 = 100 premium prediction credits
When a premium credit is used for the submission, the user gets the following benefits:
Higher quality image sent to the AI, resulting in a more accurate location prediction.
Priority & guaranteed access to the best performing model.
Give the user alternative locations where the image could be when the AI isn't 100% confident
While the user has credits on their account, they also won't see ads.
As soon as the user purchases a credit package, they will become a premium user and have access to their prediction history for life.
Why credits instead of a small monthly subscription, and do credits ever expire? What’s your rough per-prediction cost and margin at the $15/100 tier, and does model choice vary by image size? Also, how do you present confidence + alternatives so users don’t feel “charged for a miss” on low-confidence results?
I anticipate there to be users who will only want to locate one photo from time to time and not use the service on a daily or even monthly basis. I feel like subscription based pricing could reduce conversion as they only want to use the premium service once. Therefore, to price the platform fairly I decided to go initially with a one time payment based pricing model.
Credits never expire no.
I wanna know this too.
I think the credits idea is very smart considering this website can be used in a game to compare people's travel knowledge and the more they keep playing the drive to buy credit will be more.
Thank you!
