Advice for all indie hackers
by
Bree Flemings
Simple and easier said than done but,
take it easy on yourself.
Just a friendly reminder.
Accepting that burning out is something that must be aggressively avoided and that lots of startup culture around work is toxic is a key part of what has put me in a much stronger position to succeed these days vs. when I first got into things a few years ago.
I haven't 'made' it as of yet by traditional metrics, but I've certainly improved my life and opportunities immensely. Part of this was likely due to simply growing older and my brain settling down, but it was also to hammering in reminders like this.
Take it easy. Work with yourself, not against yourself. Take breaks. Don't get suckered into the toxic culture or your ego telling you you need to do crazy hours.
If you need to, stay up until the wee hours of the morning working every now and then, but only as a last resort, and be sure to give yourself ample time to decompress thereafter. This is a game of marathons, multiple marathons, and sprinters need not apply should they not end up wasting their time and energy.
Slow it down, take it easy, force yourself to be patient. Marathons!
I just joined the forum so there are so many things I don't know yet, I hope to have the help of the boards, and I really want to get to know you all on the forum.
I was just having a spinning headache and I chanced upon this. Thanks.
This is something I need to remind myself every day! Can't be said enough. Cheers.
