Hey IH đź‘‹
I’ve been trading options for a while and never found a tool that felt both accurate and usable for retail traders — especially for multi-leg strategies.
Most tools were either:
- too complex and expensive, or
- too manual and error-prone
So I started building Optioneer — a web-based options portfolio tracker focused on:
- real-time P&L
- portfolio-level Greeks
- clean support for multi-leg strategies
There’s a free tier that covers core tracking, and a small paid plan for discovery scans.
Not here to sell — mostly curious:
If you trade options, what’s the hardest part of tracking your positions today?
Cool idea!
Many thanks, appreciate 🙏
From your landing page, it looks like the product mainly tracks positions. That’s interesting, but on its own it doesn’t really improve win rates, since every trader has a different style.
Most options traders already understand win probability and max loss before entering a trade.
What I’d actually find far more valuable is the ability to export my trades from Interactive Brokers (CSV or PDF), import them into your platform, and have the system analyze my trading history. I’d want insights into my habits, what’s working or not, and which strategies I should consider instead.
Honestly, traders like me are lazy—once a trade is done, I rarely journal. Automating this analysis would save a huge amount of time and genuinely help improve my performance.
I don’t need AI to tell me to use a bull put spread or a jade lizard. I need a personalized coach that reviews my past trades and gives targeted feedback on what to improve.
Trade review and journaling are tedious but essential for long-term improvement. A product that automates this feedback loop and adapts to an individual’s trading style feels like something the market is missing—and I think it could have very strong product–market fit.
Hope this feedback is helpful.
Hello Lu,
Many thanks for your feedback, actually I already have this feature to import csv trades from your broker, but this is a premium feature. Besides this, the website is not only a portfolio tracker, but also we have a screener feature in which you can try and find options contracts for a specific company and also a discovery feature which has 6 prebuilt filters which allows you to scan a curated list of stocks and give you the best contracts with the highest scores.
Please feel free to create a free account and play with it and contact me if you have any issues/features requests etc.
Thank you, very much appreciate your feedback!
This resonates a lot. Spreadsheets tend to work until complexity quietly builds up and decision-making starts slowing down.
I’ve seen many solid tools emerge from exactly this pain point — when tracking becomes the bottleneck instead of insight.
What was the moment that made you realize adapting spreadsheets wasn’t enough anymore?
For me, the hard part changed. It wasn’t the trade; it was figuring out portfolio-level exposure.
Multi-leg positions, rolls, and partial closes made the spreadsheet “work,” but it was a struggle for every answer.
That's when tracking got in the way instead of thinking.
That’s a good point. Especially early on, it’s easy to misread signals before patterns become clear.
Nice build 👏 This hits a real gap — especially portfolio-level Greeks for multi-leg strategies, which most retail tools either hide or overcomplicate.
Many thanks, appreciate it! I added support for multiple portfolios. Now, you can choose to view the Greeks for a specific portfolio or all of them. 🙏
Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?
This is a great example of founders outgrowing spreadsheets once the process gets even slightly complex. What usually makes the biggest difference isn’t just building a tool, but being very clear about what decisions the tool is meant to support.
When the underlying process is well-defined first, custom tools tend to be far more effective and easier to iterate on later.
Well said.
As soon as I made my struggles with decisions clear, the spreadsheets stopped scaling.
Creating the tool required me to focus on the process first. After that, iteration followed naturally.
