Welcome to apic-story

Imagine going to a new city/restaurant, and not sure what to eat? Scrolling through menus and TripAdvisor.

If only you could see what to eat?

apicfood allows users to search food from hundreds of dishes available, in every possible cuisine, and expansion is planned for major cities and restaurants all over the world (well, UK mostly for now, but can easily expand).

It has a web application apicfood as well as iOS and Android.

And this struggle was real for me; how do I know what something looks like before I order?

The consequence: you end up eating same thing over and over again!

Successes

Before I talk about failures, let's talk about successes. I had an incredible 5 years journey where I first started developing the app and then scrapped it to re-write in pandemic and did release it last year.

I have improved on my tech stack (already a full stack engineer) and startup mindset (how to develop on shoestring budget).

The app is growing slowly in downloads (all organic) and improving on Google Search as well (again, technical SEO, all organic).

Failures Lessons Learnt

Talk to more end users and very early in the stage. Before even writing first line of code. Easier said, then done. Being an engineer, it is easy to find a problem to solve, an app to build and a process to automate. But remember, that doesn't bring business. Customers bring business!

Next Steps

Will keep on back-burner (Google SEO and Search Console takes time) while things improve. And maybe find a buyer for the technology?
