i used to think app screenshots were mostly about explaining features. now i think they do another job first: they tell people whether the app feels trustworthy enough to install.
for privacy-heavy apps, finance apps, health apps, journaling apps, even small utilities, the screenshots are often the first place a stranger decides whether the product feels careful or sloppy.
that is one of the reasons i am building appkit. not just to make screenshots prettier, but to make the story easier to iterate until it feels clear and trustworthy.
curious how other mobile founders think about this: do you treat screenshots as design, conversion, or positioning?
