Are API's very pricey?

My developer is going to be using Twitter API's. I have no prior knowledge in API's..

    Many APIs are free. Twitter is notoriously expensive though. When I called about their Insights/Analytics API, they said it was a minimum of $3,000/month. That ended that call pretty quickly.

    I'd take a look at their pricing page https://developer.twitter.com/en/pricing.

    Depending on the type of API it could vary. I've seen some basic HTTP API $10 per 1000 requests or something like that.
