Are betalist and betapages useless?

So - I got my link shortener, www.zoobl.com, listed on both BetaList.com and BetaPage.co (paid to expedite). While both sites got minor bits of traffic, I saw no actual users coming from these sites. Which makes me think that listing your sites on services like this just isn't worth the effort.

Anyone else with similar experience with sites like this?
