Are indie hackers "at risk" of going it alone?
Hi folks
Something been spinning around in my head...i've started things up before and with varying degrees of success, and its seemed me that the (descending) order of preference in terms of growing something is:
- with one or two other highly engaged, active and effective people
- going solo rather than partner with people who aren't as driven and focused
As indie hackers though, would most people naturally gravitate towards going solo? are we at risk of not actively seeking out and recruiting great partners to collaborate with, and grow with?
I'd love to hear thoughts and direct experiences!
It’s easy to fall into the, “if you want something done right, do it yourself,” mentality, but this will rarely achieve any progress. Most people do not have the necessary skills or time to do everything themselves. Plus, we all have to battle confirmation bias.
Small groups of very smart people is the way to go.
Yes I'm inclined to agree! follow up thoughts: are virtual groups better than none, and physical groups better than all? or is it better to go alone rather than do virtual teams?
and at a deeper level, are there cases of indiehackers coalescing into teams, or teams discovering that they are indiehackers?

I think that, if virtual groups/remote-distributed teams, are all drinking the same Kool-Aid, than they are definitely better than flying solo - fresh perspectives, ideating, expansion of skills on tap, etc. In many ways, they are so much better than a physical group - less distraction, less BS and talent is scattered all over the globe, so, ideally, more talented.
