Ask IH: how much for this?

A potential buyer contacted me recently about an abandoned side project I launched last year. It's called quarantify.com and I even posted about it here on IH.

Given that the app has 0 traffic/users/revenue (there isn't even an obvious path to monetization exactly), what would be a fair price?

Stack is vanilla JS with Firebase in the backend (database, hosting, auth).

I'm not an experienced buyer/seller, but I've heard that in this case, you could basically set an hourly rate for what you think your work is worth. So if take an hourly rate of $50 (can compare it to your dayjob, etc.) and you worked 10 hours on the project, you'd sell it for $500...

If there was an obvious way of monetizing, you could probably add a bit on top of it, considering the (guesstimatable) potential.

Good idea! I would also follow the lines of "how much would it cost the buyer to build something similar" (in addition to your personal perspective / hourly rate). Good luck with selling it!

Thanks @Dealsflow and @therealfabian - really good idea of framing it like this.

In my case, the buyer made an offer which sounded reasonable to me. We are now in the process of closing the deal.

          Sounds great, congrats! 👍🏼

Do you use an escrow service? Might be worth considering.

I wrote up a few thoughts about it: https://www.dealsflow.com/using-an-escrow-service/

          Good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the link. I wanted to do it with microaquire but they rejected me so I was thinking Flippa.

Sounds good, as they offer Escrow as well. Just make sure you don't get screwed over during the transaction! All the best!
