Audio only interactive streaming platform (twitch but audio only)

I love hanging out in live streams (twitch, yt) for the streamer and community but having to read chat and see what the streamer is doing takes up all of my attention.
I thought it would be nice if there was a similar platform that didn't require my full attention to participate in but still had that community feeling.
The idea with chyme is explore what will be possible if there was streaming platform with live interaction that was audio only. As far as I can tell this is like a juiced up form of podcasts and radio that allows 100's of users to come together and potentially participate in a conversation.

I think you are onto something, people don't have time and audio format becomes more and more preferable.
Also, as you pointed out, there already existed something like that before internet days. It's called radio. ;)
I think youtube became the new tv, but we still don't have the new radio.
Spotify is halfway there, but it lacks social aspect, that listening to a radio host had.
I miss radio host shows, where a person would talk to me, tell stories, anecdotes, chat with people who call him and play some awesome music inbetween. Kind of a long form podcast with relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for working or driving and listening at the same time.
If you could recreate that in a internet format, I would be interested.

I was thinking users could send sound clips and text messages which are read to the host and audience. The host would have a "silence" option that would pause all messages for a while.
This could be restricted to only playing when the host wants them to, only allowing TTS or any other restriction if people abuse it too much.

Yeah podcasts are boring because there is no community interaction, most are pre-recorded and even the ones that are live only allow a few people to speak.
I want to use the internet to enable more social aspects of podcasts where anyone can drop a 5-10 sec comment on what is being discussed, much like chat on streaming services but without requiring users to be staring at a screen.
Yeah they will have to use a screen to record and send a message but 99% of the time they can just listen while they do other things.
