Being a user of your own tool - good or bad?
by
Graeme
Sometimes you hear 'you are not your user', but sometimes you actually are.
If you are not a user of your own tool, who will be your user?
My main interest is creating developer tooling, and I decided some time ago to only build tools I'd use myself. I find it helps me a lot with motivation to continue improving and maintaining them.
It's also easier to find ideas and implement features that I believe are missing.
Basically "feeling the pain" myself to make things better!
Yeah I find that is the general case, im the same, just find it more fun to solve something I'm doing too
