Boost your SEO by helping out reporters

I recently read a blog post on how to build backlinks to your site for SEO purposes. It recommended a service called Help a Reporter Out so I checked it out.

It’s pretty straight-forward – you get queries from the media in your inbox and if you feel like you can help the reporter with the story they’re writing, you can pitch to them. If they like your quote/contribution/blurb, they will include it in their story and link to your company, creating a backlink from a high-authority domain to yours.

So I reached out to a reporter who’s writing a story about web analytics trends. I wrote an email pitch with about 100 words about how many people are ditching Google Analytics for privacy reasons. Today she called me and we had a good chat about privacy in web analytics and how my project, plausible.io is addressing those issues.

Fingers crossed, she’s going to publish the piece and I’ll get a boost to my SEO. Who knows, maybe even some traffic from the article.

If you’re looking to boost your SEO or get publicity you should definitely check out helpareporter.com

I have started myself to email publications in respone to their queries. I hasn't worked so far, but I keep trying!

Yes, a great strategy, especially if you can get a link in from a big news site. Nice one and fingers crossed it gets published!
