Bootstrapped founder tech stack (2024)

https://confluencevcweekly.beehiiv.com/p/tech-stack-2024

I run a bootstrapped media / software business and have been for the past four years. Here are the best tools I use after experimenting with hundreds of others.

The product stack discussion always gets a lot of engagement but the ops stack is what actually determines whether a solo founder can scale without burning out.

My current ops layer: Notion as the single source of truth. 6 linked databases that handle what would otherwise require 4-5 different tools:

    • CRM: leads, prospects, clients by pipeline stage + last-touch date
    • Client Portal: per-client progress, deliverables, open items
    • Projects: all active work with status + linked to revenue
    • Revenue Dashboard: income by client/product with net calculations
    • Decisions Log: hypotheses, kill criteria, reasoning (for retrospectives)
    • Weekly Review: the 15-min prompt that closes all open loops

Total cost: 6/mo for Notion. Replaces a CRM (0+), project manager (0+), and revenue tracker (spreadsheet sprawl).

I'm building this out as a Solopreneur OS to validate whether other solo founders at /bin/bash-5K MRR want it pre-built for them. Gate is May 22 - if it gets traction, I'll release it as a 9 Gumroad template.

What's in your ops stack vs. product stack? The gap between the two is usually where solopreneurs lose time.
