
Most technology products we use today are built on top of research ideas which were first published in academic papers. This makes reading academic papers a great habit for curious software engineers who love what they do and want to stay up-to-date.
However, following computer science research has become increasingly hard as the pace of innovation accelerates. The number of new articles on Arxiv has grown at 27% CAGR for the past 20 years. As of this writing, 240 new papers have been filed daily on average over the past 12 months. And the number is growing: last month, there were 344 new papers on average every single day.
Yet, most of the existing tools used to follow research are not well designed to explore such a massive dataset. Wouldn't it be better if we had a different way?
This is why I decided to build trendingpapers.com. The project aims to organize computer science research in a logical, simple, and easy-to-follow way. The idea is to develop a better way to learn about breakthrough ideas and innovative concepts. Staying up-to-date with cutting-edge CS research should be a way more engaging experience.
Although I am highly convinced that this is a problem worth solving and have some intuition about a better experience, I will do the validation anyway. You can contribute by answering these 9 questions (it will take less than a minute).
