Building a SaaS in one weekend
Hey everyone! My name is Richie and I'm the founder of products like SEOCopy.ai, Question.to and Recover.so (acquired).
I'm going to be challenging myself and building a full SaaS from scratch and launching the MVP all in one weekend. I'll be documenting this live on my Twitter .
The domain has already been purchased, and I'm excited to get started. I'll be posting more details about the product later tonight on my Twitter, but in essence it's a product targeted at Indie Hackers with indie friendly pricing (generous free plan). I'm taking inspiration from a bigger product that already exists in the market, that some indie's do use, but a lot don't due to its steep introductory pricing.
I look forward to sharing the build process over the weekend. I'll also post on IndieHackers again once it's built to summarise how things went.

Cool! Whats the idea for the product, I checked out SEOCopy and it looks like it's using GPT-3 to generate the blog posts? How long did it take you to learn it?
Also, when your creating a SaaS from scratch, for Recover for example, do you use a SaaS template? The sidebar in your application looks familiar to others. That's not to say your products look generic, they don't, just curious about your approach torwards building SaaS's quickly.
Do you start with the API and then think about what you can build with it? Or do you have the idea first then find the API to match what your looking.
I've also checked out React Admin dashboard since it looks good for a similar dashboard as you have in Recover. Is this something you use or recommend?
Hey Seth! Yeah, SEOCopy utilises GPT-3 as well as a bunch of other stuff to help build out the prompts, as well as validating etc. Took a little while to figure what works and what doesn't!
I have my own sort of boilerplate that I've put together over the last couple of years. It uses Next.js, TailwindCSS and Supabase.
I'll generally get an idea, note down the features that need to be built, then for each feature give a bit more info about what needs to be included etc so I don't miss anything when building.
If you're looking for a decent boilerplate, I'd honestly recommend useGravity.app. I bought it a couple of years ago when I was building my first SaaS and it saved me so much time! 100% worth the price.
