Hey all – I'm building a new tool to scratch my own itch that helps me communicate design edits to engineers in a definitive way.
As a PM, my designer and I are constantly adjusting & editing design implementations before they ship.
We have never shipped the first pass of a design because there are always edits to make in the initial implementation. Often there are details overlooked by engineering, alignment or typography might be off, or me simply wanting to improve a design once I've "felt" it.
Unfortunately, sharing these edits with engineers is as error-prone as the initial hand-off. It's a medley of Dropbox Paper, annotated screenshots, Clearshot, copy & pasted CSS edits, etc... Things still fall through the cracks, and details are missed in this process.
I'm calling the new product Cherry 🍒 and I'm building it in public on Twitter here, mostly for fun. Maybe something will come of it – if nothing else, I hope to be able to use with the team at Buffer to make my job, and that of my designer, easier. I also expect to use it to help level-up engineers' design chops along the way.
Here's a video of some progress I made on the prototype: https://cln.sh/mBcRb1
Would love your feedback on the pitch & the problem (or anything else :))!
