Building Qualion in public Week 1: the idea, the why, and the plan

Hey everyone đź‘‹

Starting my build-in-public journey for Qualion a quality assurance SaaS for documents and professional workflows.

Here's where I am at Week 1:

âś… Idea validated through early conversations with potential users
âś… First public post published on IH
🔨 Defining core features for the MVP
🎯 Goal: first paying users in 8 weeks

The core problem I'm solving: teams waste hours reviewing the same types of errors over and over. Qualion automates that quality-checking layer so professionals can stop doing repetitive reviews manually.

This comes from my experience building DocSafe (AI document cleaner) — users kept asking for something deeper, more systematic. Qualion is that answer.

I'll post weekly updates here: what's shipping, what's breaking, what I'm learning.

Anyone else building in the doc/workflow space? Would love to connect 🙏

    Hi Camille,
I worked in QA and can definitely see the value in Qualion! I'm curious: on your building journey, where is your time mainly going when you arne't building?

Love the transparency! Automation for quality-checking is going to be a huge time-saver for teams.

Since your goal is to get paying users in 8 weeks, you should definitely check out the Validation Arena. It’s a $19 challenge designed exactly for founders at your stage to get that first bit of revenue. The winner gets a trip to Tokyo. >
Plus, the prize pool just opened at $0, so the odds are great

One piece of advice from someone who’s done weekly build-in-public updates: share the uncomfortable stuff. “What’s breaking” and “what I’m learning” is where the real value is for both you and the audience. The weeks where you post “everything went great, shipped 3 features” get zero engagement. The weeks where you post “I talked to 5 potential users and 4 said they wouldn’t pay for this” are the ones that get comments, shares, and genuine help. Good luck with the 8-week goal.

This is exactly the kind of reminder I needed. It’s tempting to only post the wins because the losses feel exposing but you’re right, that’s where the real conversations happen. Week 2 update will include the uncomfortable part: the prospects who said no and why. Holding myself to it publicly now.
