Built MVP for solving my own pain. Need ideas on how to get users?

The anti-promotion shift makes complete sense. People are exhausted by generic product pitches, and moderation filters are getting much tighter across communities.

When you focus on providing utility in comment replies, how do you handle the transition to showing your own product? Do you wait for them to ask about your background, or do you frame it as a 'this is how I solved it in my own build' context without linking to the landing page directly?

Banned 3× on Reddit while looking for users is the exact trap — posting about the product in the wrong threads (or sounding promotional) gets you filtered fast.

What usually works better: find threads where people already ask for a timer / notes / small tool, then reply helpfully (not “check my app”). The hunt is the painful part.
