Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re all well!
I’m writing to hopefully get some ideas about the process of buying small businesses.
I’m currently a finance student and while really interested in VC, inevitably with tech advancing, more and more bootstrappers are coming alight. People who don’t want or necessarily need funding. VC is becoming a harder field to get into but thankfully there’s a growth in micro PE.
An exit for small founders is something I’m really interested in.
I’d be extremely appreciative if anyone could suggest any resources or tell me how they went about buying a small saas businesses.
The guys at Skaling Ventures are doing this in public, take a look at their newsletter: https://skalingventures.substack.com/

Hope this helps!
Hi, yeah I actually tried getting in touch with the founder. He's doing extremely well and I'm already on the free newsletter. Thanks!
There are a bunch of directories where you can find businesses to buy.
-- Look for the track record of founders
-- Look at CLTV
-- Make sure the product is sticky
but... if you buy them... you need to restructure them pretty well. For this you already need to have some business acumen.
Assuming you have that, get your relationships with banks going and leverage to the tits on some startups xD
Hi Marius, yeah you make some great points. I unfortunately don't have any experience growing a business. Although, I'm currently at uni and have placement at a pretty early start up in the coming academic year and hoping that will give me the experience necessary, thanks!
