Just finished a blog post unpacking Zapier's e-mail outreach strategy, and thought it might be worth covering the highlights here:
- Zapier starts everybody off with a free 14 day trial
- They send you an email on days 1, 3, 5 and 7
- The welcome e-mail familiarizes you with what they do and some terminology (i.e. what a "Zap" is)
- Day 3 is a video, showing how to actually use their platform
- Day 5 are real-world use cases and interviews
- Day 7 is generic, indirect marketing (i.e. "The 15 best productivity apps") that don't even mention Zapier.
- These e-mails are tailored based on your activity during that initial 7 day period (which I interpret to mean "whether or not you created a Zap). Colour contrast is pretty effective to highlight different action points for different emails.
They've clearly put a lot of thought into it - probably more than any other SaaS platform I've seen.
Anyone comment on what they're doing for their initial e-mail outreach?
