Can Someone Tell Me Why Android & IOS...

Why don't they have a feature where you can quietly remove yourself from group texts on your phone? Am I late? Have I missed this solution? I know you can mute yourself etc. But unlike other apps like FB/IG messenger etc where you can literally leave groups, I've not yet seen this solution available on the phone? Is there an operating API permission that is not allowed? How can this be done? And who would like to help me do it, if its not already done or in the works? Is there such a project? Can such be done? If there is a project, can I join the team and help?

I'm trying to break into UX and this would be a great project to work on with someone or a team of a couple people. I'd serve as Product Owner, project manager, UX researcher and business manager, I'd need help some help with UI, visual interactive design part. Is this a app project or just something Android and IOS must do and such a project won't be granted the necessary API permissions? Educate me. Thoughts?
