Cloud GPU vs buying device?

For my startup idea, I’m running Open AI’s whisper model to transcribe a lot of podcasts to get transcripts.

I want to expand scope to cover all new English language podcasts. This requires significantly more compute than my MacBook Pro can handle.

Would you recommend doing cloud compute instances, or getting a nice computer to run locally?

I like idea of computer since it’s an asset, where if idea doesn’t work I can sell it still, versus cloud compute is like burning money.
