Many of us look for ways to reduce our emissions but the time has come to look at how we can actually capture and remove carbon dioxide from our atmosphere. Mitigation projects are a step in the right direction but burning half the amount of wood ultimately still emits gases into the atmosphere.
CarbonRemoved is our first attempt at solving this for individuals. Through a monthly subscription you can support long-term capture and removal projects such as tree planting or direct carbon capture (turning CO2 into stone).
We are keeping it simple for now by looking at the average annual EU footprint of 8,000kg emitted but our next steps will involve personalization and "one off" purchases.
All questions, feature requests and comments are gratefully received but ultimately if you'd like to help validate this idea please start compensating your footprint with a subscription today.
Definitely a great idea but just curious, how do you plan to differ from others in this space such as https://projectwren.com/
We focus on removal, not prevention.
This is a subtle but important difference as we aim to tackle the excess of CO2 in the atmosphere while others in this space focus more on lowering existing emissions rates.
We support prevention however globally we need to start removing what we've already put into the atmosphere.
I hope this helps and if you really feel this is a pain point please support the project.
P.s. thanks for the excellent question. I'm compiling a list of F.A.Q's and will include this there.
