Concept exploring — learnromanian . app, an AI Romanian learning app for a language Duolingo treats as an afterthought

Grabbed this domain and looked into how big the category actually is before deciding whether to build it out.

Duolingo has over 950 million downloads worldwide and more than 160 million monthly active users, an overwhelming category leader. But even Duolingo's own 2026 push into more advanced content, B2-level courses, is only live for Spanish and French so far, out of nine languages currently in development. Romanian, like most less common languages, sits deep in a catalog of 260 courses on a platform built for breadth, not depth on any single language.

It's on .app too, Google's own TLD that comes with mandatory built-in HTTPS across every site, no configuration needed.

Given how dominant Duolingo is overall, curious what this community thinks, is there real room for single-language depth to beat platform breadth, or does Duolingo's brand and free pricing make that too hard to compete with regardless of quality?
