So, we started out as a data catalogue and by we, I mean Datalogz (https://www.datalogz.io/). We were born out of sheer necessity - my co-Founder found that he literally could not do his job efficiently as a data analyst at a large airline.
Fast forward to a few months later, we realize that the data catalog space is already a bit crowded and more than that, people aren't EXCITED by it.
So, we pivot. We redesign the UI/UX, we release new integrations, namely with PowerBI that people seem to love and now we sell ourselves as a 'safety net' for data as our functionality tries to prevent misreporting of data.
The journey is one thing but then there's the fact that this new space we're in doesn't really exist! Investors don't really understand it and customers know they need it but because it's new it doesn't feel 'essential' still.
How are you all dealing with innovating in brand new spaces? Any tips?
