Creating a survey form..(help)

Hey!

I am new to IH and loving the community here! I had a question regarding a new project and could do with some help if possible :)

I am looking to create a survey form from scratch and looking for some guidance on where to begin and where to find good developers who can create it.

Firstly, I have looked at the other hundreds of survey forms such as (typeform) but no survey forms out there would work with what I am trying to build.

Heres an example of a user filing the survey form which might help better explain what I am trying to achieve and why other survey forms cannot do the same.

To note: In step 2 below you will see the customer enters a code, all customers using the survey form would already have a unique code sent to them before filing the form*

Customer 1:

  1. Customer opens survey form.
  2. Customer enters a code (BR1202).
(The code entered will determine the questions for step 3)
  3. Open's question related to the code entered. - Q) How do you rate us?
  4. Form finished.

Customer 2:

  1. Customer opens survey form.
  2. Customer enters a code (CR291).
(The code entered will determine the question for step 3)
  3. Open's question related to the code entered. - Q) What size was you after?
  4. Form finished.

So effectively I need to make a form which only response to the unique codes given...If the code is incorrect the form cannot open.. Also once the code has been entered it expires and the form cannot open again.

The responses to each code is sent to a brand owner, (the owner of the code) once the form has been filed by the customer the form is automatically sent to a Google Doc or other so the brand owner can check there responses.

I am just trying to figure out if something like this can be build and where would I begin to look for developers who can do this?

I noticed there are website builders like bubble, Webflow and Wordpress can this kind of custom survey be build with these?

I understand the business model doesn't make much sense from the above... but just wondering at this time if a custom survey form can be built.

I am not a web developer and have little experience*

Thanks so much,

Ashley

Check out jotform if you haven't already. They have fantastic support for conditional jumps like what you are looking for and their free version is basically fully functional and lets you embed/self-host their form if you are so inclined.

    Hi Ashley,

A no-code platform might be the way to go since this app seems simple enough. Adalo (https://www.adalo.com/) might be simplest. The itermediate level no-code platform would be AppGyver (https://www.appgyver.com/) (this is a good tutorial series for using AppGyver with Google Firebase https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt7u_y_QC1noJ_HkNhCm-r32usYvKazqf) and the top of the line is bubble, which you are already familiar with.

All these have lots of video tutorials on YouTube and some on their own sites. And you can always ask for help in the various forums for the respective platform. That's I how I did it. I think if you don't find anyone, you could do it yourself using these tutorials. I believe in you.

    ALl the best!

Thanks for the great response! I have checked them out and think I will go for 'Bubble' as it will allow me to scale. Thanks for the advise on the forums!

I'd suggest creating your form from scratch. You should look into languages like PHP or Flask (Flask Forms and Flask-WTF) for collecting and processing data.
Create your form out of HTML, style it with CSS, and use authentication with Javascript. If you want to store all of the results in a database or have them emailed to you, use PHP and Flask (or something else you've found that works).

Oh sorry, I didn't read that you were a web developer with little experience. Maybe use an engine like Google Forms or something?

Hey! Thanks for your quick reply. I will have a look into what you mentioned but I am NOT a web developer so assume I would need to outsource building this. Any suggestions on where to find someone to take on the project? Regards, Ashley

I know how to make the project, but I don't really have time for that. I might be able to make it for you. If not, you can just hire someone or ask if someone would like to do it for you for free.
