Designer seeking dev partner - basic but powerful tool for doing voice interviews for ux designers, journalists, etc

Recording and reviewing voice interviews is incredibly cumbersome. So much so that it slows down ux research, is a major pain for journalists, and is so painful that a top investment firms doesn't even record research interviews and rely on jr. staff to take notes (no legal reason not to).

There has to be a better way! (cliche product person line!)

This project started out of me trying to hack spreadsheets and Airtable to organize my UX research quotes. I finally realized this needs to be a purpose built product that starts at the point of information creation - recording the actual interview and organizing from there.

(My custom airtable trying to solve this problem https://uxdesign.cc/how-i-simplified-my-ux-research-7b587f59543a )

Through research interviews with designers, researchers, journalists, and even bankers I've created several design prototypes that are getting good feedback. Further, I've recognized good potential pathways to various paid plans from individual up to teams.

Now I need a dev partner who wants to dive in on this project. Main skill is an excitement for this use case, followed by a good balance of UI skills and ability to setup databases of user quotes with a variety of meta tags, and ability to work with AWS transcribe or possibly other transcription services that could allow audio editing based on selecting points on transcript.

I'm really excited about this idea and think there's a business opportunity here. I bring a good background as a member of both the design research community and also as a former journalist. For customer reach I have friends and network into designers n researchers at top tech firms, a couple national news orgs, and other potential areas like investment banking. While I think this is a good area for me, I'm not trying to be a king and am excited to see what ideas, perspective and potential a good partner could bring to the team! Hope to hear from you.

Best,
-Brent

I could maybe be of assistance, if you're willing to put some hours into design for me. I desparately need some design done, as I went blind 3 years ago, so unable to do it myself.

To get an idea of both, what I'm doing and tech skill, check out video on the home page at: https://apex-platform.org/

If wanted, personal intro at: https://youtu.be/xNmBYtfaf2M

I'm also proficient with Python as well, which would be useful for the voice-to-text functionality you're looking for. Would need to discuss with you, and map out a good set of specs and plan to move forward, but would be interested in helping get your idea to MVP and beyond.

if interested, please e-mail me directly at matt.dizak@gmail.com.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Hi Brent, I like this idea as I’ve used QuickTime and post it notes to write quotes from interviews into copy.

Being devils advocate - I’m a Dev and my question is, have any of the target audience said they need and would pay for this solution ?

Sounds interesting, I’m a full stack dev that would be interested in working on this with you

I think you have a valid idea and wish I could work on this but I probably have too much on the go already. I do wonder if otter.ai is already doing this.
