Does anyone here use travel guides?
If so, is there anything that annoys you or you have trouble with? Something that in your opinion can be improved. For example:
- I'm the type of introvert so I prefer sightseeing with just my friends instead of a group of strangers and a guide,
- I like to be flexible so the real guide doesn't fit my needs as I can't do anything I want during the way and I have to be "on time" everywhere.

What do you mean by
If you hire a guide you can ask them whatever you want, at whatever time you want. They'll either agree or you find another guide who can do what you ask.
I think more in terms of a tour guide that is organized regularly somewhere in the world and you and other people can sign-up for it. Then you need to go where it starts at a specific time and follow the group. Let's say there are a few places that you will see and to each of them you will go by bus together with the group. During driving, you can't just stop to see something else or do whatever you want. In your destinations, you also have limited free time like 30 minutes or something because the organizer needs to do everything in a specific timeframe as he or she wants to handle two groups a day. That's just an example.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand you think about hiring a personal guide who makes a tour just with you on some personalized terms. In that case, it must be very hard for a guide to scale the business as it's possible to handle only a limited amount of people during the day. Of course, it's possible to hire more guides, but they might not have a solid experience like you, they might have different attitudes than you, different storytelling skills so you will have to teach them which means it's hard for you to multiply yourself relatively fast.
I was actually thinking about a personal guide. I've seen it in several places.
Not everything MUST scale, what is the problem of having a decent job as a guide? Most things in life don't scale, I don't think that is a problem. Even a highly paying consultant job does not scale, you can think at most in N different things at once and see at most M customers per day...
