🌧 Does weather conditions affect your motivation and drive?

This cold-gray-rainy weather is destroying my energy and drive here in Kentucky. I love coding at night and focusing for 10+ hours but I'm so not motivated.

What do you do to get your self out of a low-energy slump?

What I do (sometimes) helps:

  • Workout regularly
  • Eat light
  • No alcohol
  • Nap
  • Coffee
  • Music discovery

Yeah, bad weather can be a real productivity sap!

I left & started traveling, not the best option for everyone though.

I think you hit on a few good points, you have to be very observant on how your eating / caffeine / workout habits impact your productivity. For me it is more about when I do these things vs. when I work.

Personally my first few hours of productivity are the most valuable. So if there's no bright sunshine and I do low-value things first-thing in the morning I lose out on a lot of productivity.

I'm with you on this. It's a very slippery slope with productive energy on gray days.

I’m the complete opposite, I find the good weather I’d rather be outside enjoying it. When it’s cold and wet outside it feels like I’m not missing too much and it’s easier to sit at my desk. If I’m feeling unmotivated usually a sign I need a rest or some time away from the project. Eating well, exercise and time doing fun things with friends/family are the best things to keep motivation high.

Dang! I wish I was like that. I use to do that when I lived in California but it would be gray for like 12 hours and then sunny so I could count on the sun coming back.

Hi Tim. What kind of music discovery do you do?

I created a passive way to do that :) www.albumdaily.com

This is pretty dope! How do you curated the recommendations?

My paths to Music discovery happens by iTune recommendations, music blogs, friends sending recommendations, and music festivals.

Thanks! I'm a music nerd, so there is a lot of research that goes into picking the albums. Soon, I'm going to release a way for the audience to recommend albums as well. Hope you will sign up!
