E-commerce niche, how best to grow traffic?

My sister has started a side project in the last couple of months, is completely killing it, and I'm super proud of her. She's getting traffic primarily through social channels at the moment, but I'm curious what other marketing angles you guys would recommend for a clothing niche? She's UK based (if it matters).

For indie stores, social is the way to go.

I'd say in fashion, Instagram and Facebook will be the best.

She can also try a bit at Pinterest to test the water, but my guess is Facebook and Instagram will do better.

Better focus on just one or two that work well than trying to do it all at once.

If she's not doing dropshipping or using third party logistics she's probably busy packing orders and won't have the time to manage more than one anyway.

Asides from social, here are a few things that could work well and are definitely worth a try:

    • affiliates ( either through influencers or people that register on her site)
    • referrals ( printed cards with coupons code for her website. Something handwritten on the card would do wonders. I. e. : Hi {client name}, thank you for your order this means a lot to me. I'd like to offer you this coupon for a 10$ off on an order for you and your friends. {COUPON CODE}.) This helps to get returning customers.

Yeah, Insta is where pretty much all her orders are coming from atm, and no. not dropshipping as want complete control of the unboxing experience etc. I'll suggest the coupon thing to her, that's a good idea, - I might see what sort of technical input is needed to manage affiliates.

For affiliates, there's most likely a plugin for her e-commerce platform she can use.

A good affiliate plugin will cost money. Not a high amount, but at least some.

She'll also probably want to select her affiliates and have a clear contract in place for what's allowed.

If she's mostly on Insta, partnering with the right influencers can do wonders.
