Early validation = excitement, expand scope, feel justified?

One of the most underrated startup skills is knowing what not to build yet.

Early validation often creates excitement. Excitement expands scope. More features feel justified. More markets feel possible.

But I have seen validation be most powerful when it does the opposite. When it narrows focus and forces restraint.

Cutting or delaying something can feel like giving up progress, even when it is the right call.

I would love to hear from others.

What is something you intentionally delayed or chose not to build that later proved to be a good decision?

The hardest thing about B2B is that you're often selling to someone who didn't budget for your category. They need the result you provide but never planned to pay for it.

The products that win here usually create a new budget line (by being categorically new) or steal from existing budget by making the ROI comparison obvious. Which of those are you trying to do?
